Head of Fundraising

RMC are looking for someone with extensive experience of fundraising and who wants to make a difference to the lives of new communities in the UK. Experience in several fundraising disciplines such as Trusts and Foundations; developing corporate partnerships or relationships with high net worth individuals and individual giving would be great, but please talk to us if you are a specialist in a particular area or have direct transferrable experience.

Salary scale: £40,000-60,000 depending on experience, skills and demonstrable record of accomplishment.

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: Birmingham & the Black Country (hybrid working)

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop a sustainable fundraising strategy to underpin RMC’s strategic plans and deliver its goals working with the Senior Management Team. The strategy should aim to accelerate income growth in a sustainable manner, exploiting both a wide range of existing fundraising sources and new income opportunities. 
  • Increase fundraising across the mix of income streams, primarily focusing on trusts and foundations, statutory agencies, private donors and corporate funders. For this purpose, you will take the lead in writing and submitting high quality applications to a range of funders, and you will oversee fundraising events and appeals, including individual giving and legacy opportunities. You will need to ensure compliance with best practice in fundraising including use of data and confidentiality.
  • Create cohesive fundraising marketing and communications to support RMC’s wider Marketing & Communications strategy developing compelling communications targeted at different audiences.
  • Ensure effective measurement & evaluation, working with the Senior Leadership Team so that RMC’s impact measures are robust and can be effectively reported to funders.
  • Contribute to RMC’s overall strategic direction as an active member of the Senior leadership Team and ensure that RMC’s fundraising efforts remain consistent with the charity’s strategic goals.

Quality Assurance Officer

We are looking for someone to provide a quality assurance and audit preparation support, helping the Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) to maintain its quality standards set out in its membership with the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC).

Salary scale: £24,000 – £26,000 depending on experience

Contract: 2 years with a strong possibility of extension

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: RMC has four centres in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley. The successful candidate will be based on site in Birmingham with regular travel required to all centres when necessary.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:  

  • Carrying out regular quality of advice assessment of cases, uploaded on our own internal case recording management system, to OISC and AQS case recording standards.
  • Carry out regular analysis of quality of advice assessments to OISC and AQS standards, in order to identify specific issues that need to be addressed
  • Supporting the Immigration Department Manager (IDM) to implement a robust case checking system, independent file reviews and peer-to-peer assessment among the casework management teams
  • Supporting in preparing for organisational quality of advice audits conducted by OISC and AQS

People and HR Manager

RMC are seeking a forward-thinking candidate who will be responsible for ensuring an excellent human resources service to the organisation including advice on complex employment matters, effective employee relations, recruitment, policies and procedures and ensuring that fair and consistent practices are followed in relation to all employment matters.

This role is vital to our infrastructure following a period of rapid growth in staff numbers at the charity, as well as in our external activities and impact.

Salary scale: £43,000 – £ 46,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: Birmingham and/or Wolverhampton with regular travel required to all branches when necessary. 

Overview of post:

  • Leading the provision of a comprehensive human resources service to ensure that we are recruiting the best employees and volunteers and supporting them to deliver outstanding services and other positive change for refugees and migrants.
  • Managing RMC’s Human Resources in line with relevant service standards, key performance indicators and the human resources budget, ensuring robust plans are in place but also flexibility to cope with new needs, as they arise.
  • Advising the SLT (CEO, Deputy CEO and Head of Services) and other senior managers on human resources matters and ensure all people managers in the organisation have the necessary skills and support to address complex employment issues e.g. in relation to sickness, performance and disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Leading on ensuring that all human resources policies and processes are adequate and reviewed regularly.

Finance Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join the Refugee Migrant Centre (RMC) as its Finance Assistant.

With the organisation expanding the finance department is also expanding and there is need for a Finance Assistant who will work closely with the key members of the finance department. This is an exciting time to be joining the team, as RMC are strengthening and expanding its infrastructure following a period of growth in staff, activities and turnover (from £776k to £3.8 million in the last 5 years).

Salary scale: £24,000 to £26,000

Contract: Fixed term – 1 year with a very strong potential for extension

 

Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week)

Reporting to:  Finance Manager

This role is to support the Finance Officer in all aspects of the finance function and be responsible for the Financial Administration side of the the team’s daily activities. Maintaining accurate records and assisting with the production of financial reports for month end proceudres as required by the finance Manager. Must also be able to communicate effectively with internal and external staff and be able to work on using your own initiative within a team as well independently. The role requires excellent attention to detail.

Main responsibilities:

  • Excellent book keeping, including bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledger maintenance.  
  • Assisting the Finance Officer to record and monitor and track income and expenditure and maintaining balanced and highly accurate records using QuickBooks.
  • Regular use of Excel to assist with maintaining and updating financial documents.
  • Maintaining petty cash and reconciling monthly for the petty cash. accounts for Volunteers’ expenses and general petty cash accounts for all 4 sites.  
  • Ordering equipment and stationery using the correct process and negotiating with suppliers as well as matching invoices to delivery notes.

Trustee opportunties

The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) is a well-established, award winning regional charity, renowned for its work in assisting refugees and migrants through crisis and disadvantage; we remove barriers to integration and help our clients to become equal citizens via a whole person approach to delivery of services. RMC operate across Birmingham and the Black Country and have a very broad remit and an extremely varied service user base.

RMC is seeking to appoint experienced people to join our Board of Trustees.

The ideal candidates would have relevant experience in similar roles and have a clear understanding of charity boards and governance and be sympathetic to our ethos and values.

For these non-remunerated, voluntary roles we would ask that you dedicate time to attend 7-8 board meetings annually as well as social event, celebrations etc.

The key officers’ roles within the board are currently filled but vacancies for these roles may arise in the future.
