Human Resources Manager
RMC are seeking a forward-thinking candidate who will be responsible for ensuring an excellent human resources service to the organisation including advice on complex employment matters, effective employee relations, recruitment, policies and procedures and ensuring that fair and consistent practices are followed in relation to all employment matters. This role is vital to our infrastructure following a period of rapid growth in staff numbers, as well as in our external activities and impact.
Salary scale: £43,000 – £ 46,000 depending on experience and qualifications
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Birmingham and/or Wolverhampton with regular travel required to all branches when necessary.
Overview of post:
- Leading the provision of a comprehensive human resources service to ensure that we are recruiting the best employees and volunteers and supporting them to deliver outstanding services and other positive change for refugees and migrants.
- Managing RMC’s Human Resources in line with relevant service standards, key performance indicators and the human resources budget, ensuring robust plans are in place but also flexibility to cope with new needs, as they arise.
- Advising the SLT (CEO, Deputy CEO and Head of Services) and other senior managers on human resources matters and ensure all people managers in the organisation have the necessary skills and support to address complex employment issues e.g. in relation to sickness, performance and disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Leading on ensuring that all human resources policies and processes are adequate and reviewed regularly.

Office Manager
This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join the Refugee Migrant Centre (RMC) as its Office Manager. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Office Manager who is able to manage and coordinate a busy office environment with several sites.
Salary scale: £27,500 – £29,500
Contract: Permanent
Probation Period: 6 months
Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week)
Reporting to: Senior Management Team
Main responsibilities:
- To be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the offices at RMC, across all sites.
- Responsibility for oversight of our premises in Birmingham, Wolverhampton Walsall and Dudley, including lead responsibility for implementing the health, safety & environment policy, fire safety and all facilities management.
- Liaising with the landlords on resolving any issues across the sites.
- To manage the IT staff and cleaners who provide day to day support to the team.
- To support the Volunteer and Training Manager with general administration duties.

Advisor
RMC are seeking new advisors to join our highly skilled and diverse staff team. This role will focus on providing effective advice and guidance to a broad range of service users of RMC in particular welfare benefits, housing, health and other generalist advice areas and experience of advice work dealing with asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants
Salary scale: £22,500 to £24,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Up to 12 months with the possibility of extension
Probation period: 6 months
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall (positions available across all our offices) – working across branches may be a requirement.
Overview of post:
- To offer advice, advocacy and support to service users with various aspects related to their welfare as requested by the management of RMC and funders’ requirements.
- To maintain confidentiality in all dealings with service users and ensure their needs are
met in a satisfactory and sensitive manner. - To provide professional and effective advice and guidance to a broad range of service users of RMC in particular welfare benefits, housing, health and other generalist advice areas and experience of advice work dealing with asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants.
- To assist/support the team and the management to meet the needs of the beneficiaries and achieve targets.

Senior Advisor
RMC are seeking experienced advisors to join our highly skilled and diverse staff team. This role requires at least 5 years’ experience in an advice-giving role or equivalent, in particular welfare benefits, housing, health and other generalist advice areas and experience of advice work dealing with asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants.
Salary scale: £24,500 – £26,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: up to 12 months with the possibility of extension
Probation Period: 6 months
Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week)

Caseworker (OISC Level 1, 2 or 3)
The post holder will join RMC in the advice department and will support with the provision of free
immigration advice and representation. This is an exciting time to be joining the team, as RMC
are strengthening and expanding its infrastructure following a period of growth in staff, activities
and turnover.
Salary scale:
OISC Level 1 – £25,500 to £27,000
OISC Level 2 – £27,500 to £29,000
OISC Level 3 – £30,000 to £32,000
Contract: Up to 12 months with the possibility of extension

Overview of post:
- To provide one-to-one specialist advice in immigration and asylum area of law
- To provide thorough, professional, high quality and timely casework and advice
- To ensure accurate recording keeping and ensure all necessary and associated administrative tasks are completed
- To ensure case deadlines and key dates are recorded, monitored and actioned in a timely manner
- To conduct all casework and advice in compliance with all OISC regulatory requirements and the OISC code of standards

Family Support Worker
RMC are looking for a Family Support Worker to join the team. The post holder will work within our very diverse and multi skilled Resettlement Team, working to enable and empower newly arrived often vulnerable refugees to settle into their new communities with confidence.
Salary scale: £22,500 – £24,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: up to 12 months with the possibility of extension
Probation Period: 6 months
Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week)
Location: Birmingham Resettlement Office and Community based
Overview of post:
- To hold a caseload of host – guest households
- Provide pre and post arrival support to hosts
- Provide initial reception and orientation at client’s homes and within their local
community settings - Carry out a holistic needs assessment and prepare a Personal Integration Plan with every
household on a quarterly basis, preferably in the client’s homes - Negotiate specialist intervention with external agencies as appropriate according to the
client’s needs - To be the lead contact for all agencies and responsible for coordinating support for your
key clients - To work with families in a variety of locations such as within their home, RMC premises,
on outreach and via digital means

Trustee opportunties
The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) is a well-established, award winning regional charity, renowned for its work in assisting refugees and migrants through crisis and disadvantage; we remove barriers to integration and help our clients to become equal citizens via a whole person approach to delivery of services. RMC operate across Birmingham and the Black Country and have a very broad remit and an extremely varied service user base.
RMC is seeking to appoint experienced people to join our Board of Trustees.
The ideal candidates would have relevant experience in similar roles and have a clear understanding of charity boards and governance and be sympathetic to our ethos and values.
For these non-remunerated, voluntary roles we would ask that you dedicate time to attend 7-8 board meetings annually as well as social event, celebrations etc.
The key officers’ roles within the board are currently filled but vacancies for these roles may arise in the future.
