People and HR Manager

RMC are seeking a forward-thinking candidate who will be responsible for ensuring an excellent human resources service to the organisation including advice on complex employment matters, effective employee relations, recruitment, policies and procedures and ensuring that fair and consistent practices are followed in relation to all employment matters.

This role is vital to our infrastructure following a period of rapid growth in staff numbers at the charity, as well as in our external activities and impact.

Salary scale: £43,000 – £46,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full or part time (min 3 days per week)

Location: Birmingham with regular travel required to all branches when necessary. 

Overview of post:

  • Leading the provision of a comprehensive human resources service to ensure that we are recruiting the best employees and volunteers and supporting them to deliver outstanding services and other positive change for refugees and migrants.
  • Managing RMC’s Human Resources in line with relevant service standards, key performance indicators and the human resources budget, ensuring robust plans are in place but also flexibility to cope with new needs, as they arise.
  • Advising the SLT (CEO, Deputy CEO and Head of Services) and other senior managers on human resources matters and ensure all people managers in the organisation have the necessary skills and support to address complex employment issues e.g. in relation to sickness, performance and disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Leading on ensuring that all human resources policies and processes are adequate and reviewed regularly.

Receptionist (Bank Staff)

As a Receptionist at RMC, you will be the welcoming face of our organisation, providing crucial support in administrative tasks and ensuring smooth operations at our reception area. Your responsibilities will include managing incoming calls, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, and assisting with general inquiries. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with internal teams to facilitate effective communication and uphold the organisation’s standards of service excellence.

Salary scale: £21,000 – £22,000 (pro-rated)

Contract: Monthly (rolling)

Hours: 16 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9:00am – 1:00pm

Location: RMC’s Birmingham Centre

Main responsibilities:

  • Welcoming visitors and directing them to the appropriate personnel or department.
  • Managing incoming calls and transferring them to the relevant individuals.
  • Handling inquiries from clients, volunteers, and stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Scheduling appointments and maintaining appointment calendars.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and photocopying.
  • Coordinating deliveries, mail, and courier services.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation at the reception area.
  • Providing general administrative support to colleagues and management as needed.
