New Refugee and Migrant Hub launched in Dudley

On Tuesday 25th July 2023, we celebrated the official launch of the new Refugee and Migrant Hub in Dudley. This new hub is a collaboration between The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) and Brushstrokes and came together after seeing a clear need for additional services being made available in the area.

A new hub for refugees and migrants

This brand new service in Dudley, provides immigration advice, English classes, employability support and further integration services.

Delivered through a drop in service, people can get support from the expert team from RMC and Brushstrokes with nearly 200 people visiting since it’s soft opening ahead of the full launch.

Currently the hub is running as a trial with thanks to the funder, Black Country Healthcare NHS to see what impact the hub can have within the community. The aim is to be able to support people to settle, integrate and build lives in the area without the barriers currently in place.

The launch

The event was attended by a wide range of organisations , with Jeremy Vanes, Chair of the Board of Black Country Healthcare, calling it an “impressive and much needed new services”

Members of both RMC and Brushstrokes talked about the service and opportunities available as well as took questions.

It was a great chance to get to know the community more and further build the relationships within the area as well as a chance to celebrate the new hub.

Next steps

The hub’s drop in will be open Mondays & Thursdays from 9:00 – 13:00. For most, this will be the first point of call for support. Alongside this, English classes and follow on appointments will take place.
