Navigating Life with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) – report launch
The Refugee and Migrant Centre and SIFA Fireside are launching today their report ‘Navigating life with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)’. This report is the product of a collaboration between the two charities with the support of Co-Production Works. The project was facilitated and funded by the Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) and the University of Birmingham as part of the Research Better Together initiative
This report aims to present key findings and share participant’s experiences with an emphasis on the urgent need for systemic changes to provide better support and policy reform for individuals living with NRPF.
This research, led by the Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) and SIFA Fireside, explores the challenges faced by individuals with NRPF status, who are ineligible for government financial assistance. The study involved interviews, focus groups, and a creative collage workshop to understand the impact of NRPF on people’s lives.
However, Jawed’s arrival in Walsall marked the beginning of a new chapter—one filled with warmth and support. He describes the moment he was welcomed by the Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) as a profound relief. “The warmth and care from RMC made me feel at home,” he says with a smile.
