The History of RMC

RMC has been supporting the community for over 25 years and in that time, we've grown and developed a lot. From a small team of volunteers, to a regional charity with a wide ranging remit of support to help newly arrived communities. We are proud of where we are now, and proud of our history that has made us who we are.

The Windrush Scandal
In October 2017, the case of Paulette Wilson sparked nationwide recognition of the challenges faced by the Windrush generation. Paulette, a 61 year old grandmother who arrived in the UK as a child, was detained and threatened with deportation to Jamaica. Through tireless work and determination, RMC’s immigration team was able to secure Paulette’s freedom and highlight the wider issue, thanks to support from Amelia Gentleman and journalists from BBC West Midlands who helped publicise the case. This has secured justice for many others who were affected and RMC continues to support those impacted to this day.
2020
Walsall expansion
In January 2020, RMC moved to a bigger centre to meet the growing demand. This allowing for a full service of support to be offered in line with other centres.
