EU Settlement Scheme with RMC

The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) is a Home office approved provider of support for the EU settlement scheme to allow EU residents settled status in the UK after Brexit.

There are several events taking place starting tomorrow to support people accessing support to apply for EU settlement. To mark this, we wanted to share some of our work on this and how we can help you,

Come along and see us at the Birmingham event tomorrow!

RMC will support your application from start to finish and will help anyone that needs support. Especially those in more vulnerable situations, or with additional support needs.

We have had some very positive outcomes, with some examples below.

Preventing destitution of families

Amy (named changed), had been living in the UK for 7 years and when she came to RMC. She was living in temporary accommodation due to family breakdown. Her claim for Universal credit had been refused as she had been told she was not eligible for benefits.

Our advisors saw that she and her children were eligible and would greatly benefit from the Settled status and that she was fully entitled to Universal Credit support. We submitted the application on the same day and were also able to arrange food parcels and support for her children to while they were waiting.

RMC was able to speed up the decision, in collaboration with the Resolution Centre, due to the vulnerable situation the family were in, and because of this were able to put in a new Universal Credit claim, and prevent the family becoming homeless and destitute.

Supporting single mother with complex needs

Greta (name changed) was a single mother of 2, living in the UK for over 10 years and working for most of this time. She was also living with significant mental health issues.

Greta had applied for settled status herself, but had not recieved a decision for some time and had difficulty getting her proof of residence because of her health issues and problems that had come as a result of this.

She was also in the process of being evicted from her home due to rent arrears when she came to RMC for support. Working alongside the Resolution centre, RMC advisors were able to get a decision on the case that day, with Greta receiving her indefinite leave to remain in the UK. Advisors then helped her reapply for Universal Credit now she had all the documents she needed, which prevented her eviction as she could now begin to repay her debts.

Our drop in service runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am-1pm. Please come early to ensure you are seen.
